town-pub-of-the-year-2017-2In the 2017 issue of The Good Pub Guide, out today, Bank House is named as the winner of the guide’s UK Town Pub of the Year award.

Needless to say we are delighted, and very grateful to our loyal band of customers, who have made the bar at Bank House the bustling convivial place it is, and to our wonderful staff who have played such a key role in creating the “welcoming atmosphere” with their “friendly, courteous service”.

The Good Pub Guide is widely recognised as the industry bible. It is totally independent and bases its assessments on reviews it receives from readers. A huge thank you to all of you who took the time to write and tell them about us.

When Anthony and I bought Bank House eight years ago, our friends thought we had taken leave of our senses, so it is particularly gratifying to see Bank House in its new incarnation at the centre of life in King’s Lynn, and recognised as the place to eat, drink and stay, not just in King’s Lynn, but as one of the best in the UK.

At a time when so many pubs are closing, to receive this award after just eight years in business is fantastic. For us, having won UK Pub of the Year 2015 at The Rose & Crown, our other pub, which we have owned for the last 20 years, it is almost a hat trick!
